Palimpswell is my hope-archaeology excavation of the Windrush stain. Rendering Floella Benjamin as guardian, I stitch passports, ledgers and broken bureaucracy into a coastline of memory. After thousands of pieces I am more puzzled and more faithful - puzzled by choices that permit harm, faithful to repair. It taught me the beautiful, broken, striving nature of humanity. Art is my bridge between human pain and possibility.
